This testing apparatus determines the repetitive undrained shear characteristics of sandy soil.
It measures the normal stress (effective stress) on the shear surface on the upper box force plate side directly, with its structure that allows lower face normal stress load and movable upper box.
It is characterized by the driving servo motor directly attached to each of the vertical shear load apparatus. Thus in addition to the position control and speed control (for normal deformation control), torque control is also available.
The linear guide rail on the guide apparatus of the shear box has normal stress load meter on the force plate side, and they are hung from the force plate frame. By this structure, the load meter does not move when shearing, and all the loads including the parts mentioned above are not put on the specimen.
In addition, as it runs only by electric power, it directly measures the changes of the effective stress in a constant volume condition without any additional facilities such as an air pressure motor. And this apparatus can perform testing under an undrained (water and air) condition regardless of the saturation of the specimen, without pore water pressure measurement.
The cyclic tests for normal constant pressure or volume tests and deformation control tests are also available.
